We are…

The confluence of story, strategy and the outdoors.

Confluence was born in the Spring of 2025. The idea for Confluence came from our professional and personal experience in the outdoor industry, and a desire to help provide outfitters with the tools necessary to grow their businesses. Using their diverse professional experiences Confluence has the unique ability to connect with outfitters in a personal and hands-on fashion. Confluence brings together our experience in the guiding industry, outfitting industry, commercial recreation management, nonprofit advocacy and more to give customers result-based solutions customized to the needs of their business. Here at Confluence we understand the outdoor industry because we’ve lived it, on both sides of the coin, as professionals and as customers.

Meet the Creators of Confluence

Maya Hopkinson

+

Maya Hopkinson was born in Salt Lake City, Utah- the same year her father began his outfitting career. Since then, she’s spent nearly every summer in Stanley, Idaho, where her love for the outdoors and the guiding lifestyle took root. Growing up as an outfitter’s daughter and river guide, Maya gained hands-on experience in every aspect of the business—from marketing and storytelling to driving buses on mountain roads and solving problems on the fly. Maya earned her degree in Marketing from Westminster College and went on to work for Irwin Guides in Crested Butte, Colorado, a global guiding company, as their Sales and Operations Manager. After a year away, she realized no summer or fall could compare to Stanley. Returning home, she began taking on a larger role in her family’s outfitting business, combining her marketing background with her firsthand guiding experience. You can find Maya guiding on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, cooking for a remote hunting camp deep in the wilderness, skiing powder and hucking cliffs all winter long, or surfing her heart out in Nicaragua. She thrives on variety and embraces the ebb and flow of seasonal life—often taking on a mix of side projects alongside co-owning Confluence. Through it all, she’s dedicated to learning, growing, and helping shape the next generation of her family’s outfitting legacy. Through this, she wants to help other outdoor industry leaders grow their companies and tell their stories.

Anya Korfine

+

Anya Korfine was raised in a small Upstate New York town where she spent her childhood running around the woods and learning about the wonders of the natural world through a lens of experiential alternative education before making her way West to attend the University of Utah where she graduated with a degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism with an emphasis in Outdoor Education and a focus in Natural Resource Management. Anya then spent multiple years working in the environmental non-profit world working on water policy and management in the west. In this role Anya spearheaded all communication efforts, helped manage membership growth and fundraising efforts, managed all of the organization’s social media platforms, helped develop, implement, and plan multiple campaign launches and gained valuable experience in the graphic design and layout world. This experience also led Anya to the Utah Statehouse where she participated in two General Legislative Sessions giving her a unique, hands on perspective of the legislative process, reading and writing policy, and meeting and collaborating with a multitude of different stakeholders, legislators, and constituents. Anya then spent a year returning to her roots and running around the words with kids as an instructor for an outdoor education program. In between the worlds of advocacy and education, Anya also enjoys doing freelance social media work for a variety of outdoor recreation companies. When not working, you can find Anya speed-reading a new book, biking, skiing (most likely crying on the High-T at Alta), taking a ballet class or laying by a river gazing in wonder at our beautiful natural world. She is currently based in Salt Lake City, UT.

Much like the confluence of two rivers, Maya and Anya found each other in college and formed  a fast friendship. From navigating the realities of adult life for the very first time as roommates, to rafting the Grand Canyon, to finally owning a business together years later, Maya and Anya could not be more excited to bring our dream of Confluence to your business.
